NOTARY PUBLIC

A Notary Public is a person of required honesty, credibility, truthfulness, and integrity appointed by the State of California to serve the public as an impartial witness in performing a variety of acts related to the signing of important documents, taking oaths and affirmations, and performing other acts authorized by law.

A Notary’s job is to do the following:
  • authenticate a person’s identity
  • verify that the person executed (signed) the document
  • compel an affiant to truthfulness
Examples of documents that might need a Notary Public are:
  • Wills & Power of Attorney
  • Loan Documents
  • Deeds (Quitclaim, Deeds of Trust, Grand Deeds)
  • Travel letters or passport applications
  • Acknowledgements
Should you need a Notary Public, please bring a California-Approved Identification:
  • CA Drivers License/ID Card
  • U.S. Passport or passport card
  • Other states driver’s license or ID card
  • Canadian driver’s license
  • Mexican driver’s license
  • Foreign passport
  • Military ID card
  • CA Inmate ID
  • Employee ID card issued by the state of CA, or any city or county in CA.
